NAAJ 2008 Convention If you haven’t done so already, please mark June 20 and 21, 2008 on your calendar. That’s when the NAAJ convention will be held in Washington, D.C., in the Blackburn Center Ballroom at Howard University. We’ve tapped two of our finest media personalities – Chika Onyeani and James Butty –to lead the convention planning committee. Onyeani, best-selling Nigerian author of multiple books, including the controversial Capital Nigger, is the publisher of The African Sun-Times in New York. Butty, a Liberian, is the host of Daybreak Africa at the Voice of America. This committee will work with the NAAJ Board to produce a national convention that will feature workshops and other career development programs, as well as the convention dinner. The dinner is our organization’s biggest fundraiser, which helps us to implement projects that benefit our members and our African colleagues all over the world. To Onyeani, Butty and other convention planning committee members, as well as all members serving on various committees of this organization, I owe you a debt of gratitude. NAAJ appreciates your commitment and sacrifice to provide opportunities for African journalists and to ensure professional excellence in the practice of our trade. Thank You.
