NAAJ CommitteesMembership Committee

This committee shall embark on a year-round recruitment drive to attract former and current professionals, as well as students to our organization. The committee’s job shall include verification of members’ affiliation with the media, and recommendation for the suspension or expulsion of any imposter.

Media Watch Committee

This committee shall monitor the harassment, intimidation and abuse of fellow journalists in Africa and other parts of the world. It then will recommend to the NAAJ Board how the organization should react or address the situation.

Ethics Committee

Ethics Committee shall handle ethical issues involving our members, including activities with potential negative impact on our organization. This committee shall also create and produce a style/ethics book to guide the proper coverage of African issues.

Funding Committee

The committee shall source for funds through foundations, grants (from public and private sectors) The funds will be used for a variety of projects, including awards of scholarships to African students studying journalism in an accredited college or university; fellowships and special projects for members, including coverage of significant events or developments in Africa.

2008 NAAJ Convention Planning Committee

The committee will help the NAAJ Board organize a successful convention. It will recommend convention programs to the Board, including booking an official hotel, live entertainment and sponsors for the convention/ specific programs. It also will recommend high-powered invitees to the professional sessions and annual dinner, as well as working with the NAAJ Board to execute those programs.
